We at 42coders love meetups and think that they are a valuable asset to the community. And we willingly attend to them. Not to mention we are delighted by the idea of bringing people with the same passions and interests together.

Therefore, the news that Meetup has announced a new payment model that will charge users a certain fee (2 $) for an event came as a quite shock to us. It is highly possible that the new monetization policy will cause massive leaving of the platform due to the fact that the only people who were paying for the service, prior to the announcement, were the event organizers.

In light of the above mentioned, we have concluded that an alternative platform has to exist. We came up with a solution and would like to announce Communian – an event platform for local communities, that will allow you to find interesting events nearby and join local communities with like-minded people.

Communian would offer the fair price model, where users wouldn’t have to pay any kind of participation fee and could freely search for nearby events or organize people with similar interests into communities.

As for the Communian price model – in 2019 it would be completely free of charge.
In 2020 it will be free of charge for the first 100 meetups and the first 1000 meetups will enjoy 50% discount.
